How it works
Soljari Split exists for one job: keeping track of money between people who spend together, and making the end of a trip painless.
1. Make an expense group
A group is just a shared pot: "Goa Trip 2026", "Flat 302", "Office Lunch". Invite people by email, by a link, or by scanning a QR code. Whoever creates the group is its owner.
2. Add expenses as they happen
Anyone in the group can add a spend - the amount, what it was for, and who it should be split between. Attach a photo of the bill if you want a record. Split it equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares.
3. The owner approves
New expenses go in as pending. The group owner sees them in an approval queue and either approves or rejects each one, with a reason if they reject. Only approved expenses ever move anyone's balance, so a typo or a personal purchase never quietly changes what people owe.
4. Cover someone else if you need to
Sometimes one person pays for another - a partner, a sibling, a friend who left their wallet at home. Mark them as your linked payer and their share moves onto you before balances are shown. It is set per group, so covering someone on a family trip does not follow you into the office lunch group.
5. Settle up
When it is over, pick one or more groups and hit settle. We work through four stages and show you every one:
- Equal Split - the raw shares from every approved expense.
- Linked Transfer - shares moved onto whoever is covering them.
- Net Settlement - debts that point both ways cancel out.
- Final Settlement - the smallest set of payments that clears everything.
Confirm, and those groups lock. The final payments land in your ledger as things you owe or are owed.
6. Pay, and watch it clear
When money actually changes hands, record it. Your balance with that friend moves toward zero. Part-payments are fine - the remainder stays open until it is cleared.
