About Soljari Split

Soljari Split started as a single PHP page one of us wrote to survive a group trip. Thirty-odd friends, dozens of expenses, couples who paid for each other, and an evening of arguing over a spreadsheet at the end of it.

That page did one clever thing: instead of listing forty separate debts, it reduced the whole tangle to the shortest list of payments that settled it. Some people who appeared to owe money ended up paying nobody, because their debts cancelled out along the way.

This app is that idea, properly built. Everything is still there - the four-stage working, the paise-accurate splits, the ability to cover someone else's share - with the parts that only lived in one person's head now written down: who approved what, when a group was settled, and how each final figure was reached.

We kept two rules. Nothing counts until the group owner approves it, and every settlement keeps its full working forever. Money between friends survives on trust, and trust survives on being able to check.
